Putting an end to conflict diamonds.
In January 2002, governments, non-governmental organizations and the industry created an intergovernmental agreement called the Kimberley Process Certification System. It was established to eradicate the trade in conflict diamonds.

Over 99% of diamonds are from sources free of conflict.
Since the Kimberley Process has been established, conflict diamonds have been reduced from approximately 4% to considerably less than 1%.

Revenue from diamonds provides funds for hospitals, schools and more.
Diamonds are helping transform lives around the globe, especially in Africa. Revenues from diamonds ($9.4 billion in the last year alone) have helped provide jobs, education and healthcare, especially in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

You play an important role.
As a member of the industry, you and your employees can help eradicate conflict diamonds. To assist you, the World Diamond Council is providing Conflict Diamonds Confidence Packs. With these easy-to-use materials you can:

Educate yourself and your staff about the Kimberley Process and the System of Warranties, and the positive contributions diamonds are making to the countries and communities where they are sourced.

Require written warranties from all your diamond suppliers stating that the diamonds invoiced have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict.

Assure your customers that you require these warranties from all your suppliers. Let them know that the industry is 100% committed to the total eradication of conflict diamonds.

"The elimination of conflict diamonds is a moral imperative for the entire industry and based on our past success, it is an attainable goal. However, for us to succeed, it requires the commitment and participation of everyone in the industry."
